Current Web Threats – and Why you are still getting Viruses even with a well secured system.

12 years ago the SANS Institute in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation released a list of the Top 10 Web Threats at the time. At the top of that list is opening unsolicited e-mail attachments without verifying their source or checking their content. and number 2 on the list was failing to install security patches, especially for Microsoft Office, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Netscape browsers. Installing screen savers or games from unknown sources is next, followed by not making and testing backups, and then using a modem while connected through a local area network Sadly 12 years later the Top 2 of those are still the top 2 issues today.
